VPN network access under Linux with AnyConnect and Multi-Factor Authentication

What you need

• Active account in UNIGRAZonline
• Activated multi-factor authentication
• sudo rights on the Linux device

Short overview

1. In the browser, call up the address https://univpn.uni-graz.at
   • Select Group: Students
2. Enter your access data in the following format:
   • Username: vorname.nachname@edu.uni-graz.at
   • Password: UNIGRAZonline password
3. Open the MFA app, a numerical code will be generated there
   • Enter the one-time code
4. Click on Start Anyconnect
5. You will receive the download link according to your operating system
6. Save file
7. Open a terminal switch to the folder where you downloaded the file
8. Enter the command:
   • sudo chmod +x 'filename_ciscoanyconnect.sh'
9. Now start the installation with the following command:
   • sudo ./'filename_ciscoanyconnect.sh'
10. Enter your sudo privileges
11. To accept the licence terms
    • Enter: y
12. Open the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
    • Server address: univpn.uni-graz.at
13. Enter your credentials in the following format:
    • Username: vorname.nachname@edu.uni-graz.at
    • Password: UNIGRAZonline password
14. Open the MFA-App, there a number code will be generated
    • Enter the one-time code
15. If the connection is successful, confirmation will appear at the top of the desktop that you are connected to the University network and can now use various University resources from home.
