What you need

  • PC/notebook either with built-in webcam and microphone or extended by connecting a headset (usually also supplied with mobile phones) or camera. Please choose a quiet environment for the sessions, as ambient noise may disturb the meeting. In case of problems with the headsets etc. please follow this link for assistance.
  • Current operating systems (Windows, Apple)
  • Browser in current version (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari)

Short overview

  1. Open the Moodle course and click on the "BigBlueButton" icon.
  2. Click on Join to enter the session. This will open a new tab in your browser.
  3. If the session has already started, you will be redirected to a virtual waiting room. Wait until the presenter(s) allow(s) your access. If the session has not yet started, do not close the browser. Just wait until the presenter has started the conference (session).
  4. After you have been admitted to the session, you will receive a message telling you how you want to join the conference. Click "With microphone" to join with audio/webcam or click "Listen only" if you want to join without audio/webcam. This option depends on the presenter.
  5. If you are participating "With microphone", a pop-up window will appear asking you whether your microphone can be accessed. Select the appropriate audio equipment, click Allow and then do the echo test. The session user interface will appear.
