How to access VPN in Windows with AnyConnect and Multi-Factor Authentication

How to install AnyConnect on your computer and create a VPN connection to the University of Graz’s network.


What you need

  • An active account on UNIGRAZonline
  • Activated multi-factor authentication

VPN Netzzugang unter Windows mit AnyConnect

Short overview

  1. Open https://univpn.uni-graz.at in your browser.
  2. Select Group: students
  3. Then, enter your credentials to access the portal via uniLOGIN:
    • Username: Uni Graz email-address
    • Password: UNIGRAZonline password
  4. Open the MFA app, a numerical code will be generated
    • Enter the one-time code
  5. Select the item AnyConnect from the VPN portal’s menu. Download the setup file via your browser and install the app.
  6. Open Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client
    • Enter server address: univpn.uni-graz.at
  7. Enter your access data via uniLOGIN:
    • Username: e-mail-address
    • Password: UNIGRAZonline password
  8. Open the MFA-App and check the current code.
    • Enter the one-time code
  9. If the Cisco AnyConnect icon with a lock appears in the taskbar, you have been successfully connected to the university's network and can now use various university resources from home.
