Intended use
- The facilities of uniIT are exclusively used for the fulfillment of the tasks of the University of Graz. Devices of uniIT in public areas are to be treated with care and workplaces are to be left clean.
- Troubleshooting of the devices, especially the multifunctional devices, is only allowed by the staff of uniIT or the responsible unit.
- Private devices that comply with the security policy for computers and networks and the eduroam policies (including current security updates, virus-free, secured against unauthorized access, current virus protection ...) can be operated in the WLANs of uniIT.
- The IT rooms are available to students for free, study-related work. For announced reservations (courses, exams, etc.), the room must be vacated without being asked and in good time (15 minutes beforehand). Use is announced either electronically in the room's schedule or by posting a notice.
- Logging out is absolutely necessary when leaving the equipment.
Unauthorized use
- Modifications to the facilities of uniIT are not permitted. In particular, the unplugging or plugging in of devices is prohibited, except at the sockets specifically marked for this purpose.
- The facilities are only available to authorized persons and access data or facilities may not be made available to other persons.
- Use for commercial or professional purposes is not permitted.
- Excessive use for private purposes or personal business is not permitted.

Obligations of the user

- The user bears full responsibility for the use of his/her user authorization. Passing on the user authorization to other persons is not permitted. In principle, the user must keep his/her password secret and change it on a case-by-case basis.
- If there is any suspicion of misuse of the user's own or other user authorizations, the user must inform uniIT of the suspicion.
- The user agrees to support uniIT and organizations cooperating with uniIT in the investigation of unauthorized use or damage.
- If a user uses uniIT services to gain access to other networks or services, then the user must also comply with the regulations for that other network and any networks in between (e.g. ACOnet policy).
- A user may be held responsible and liable for any damage to the uniACCOUNT, its services, and services of third parties that he/she causes in the course of using the uniACCOUNT.
- The user shall endeavor to use the uniACCOUNT in accordance with the principles of reasonableness and economy.
- The user shall not manipulate the infrastructure.
- Unlawful copying of software available in uniIT is prohibited. If copies are made illegally, the user is liable for any claims made against uniIT by the licensor.
Withdrawal of the permission to use
- uniIT reserves the right to interrupt active network connections of a user if unauthorized use is discovered or if there is imminent danger.
- In case of recurrence, the user's authorization may be revoked.
- In the case of less critical incidents, the user will be informed by e-mail. If there is no reaction within the period announced in the e-mail, the blocking of the Uni-Graz accounts will come into effect after a period of time has elapsed.
